Do you surf the web and spend too much time on Facebook wondering why you are not making the millions touted by numerous Platinum level consultants? Do you find yourself multitasking? Are your thoughts scattered? Do you have a lengthy to-do list? Are any of your projects completed on time?

The only way to truly get what you want is to have tunnel vision. I’m talking about healthy tunnel vision where you spend time focusing on what you want to achieve.

Ignore those who are promoting Million Dollar Sales possibilities or multi-million dollar online opportunities. These are distractions that will fill you with doubt. Doubt makes you uncertain and then you start questioning yourself.

Stop fixating on things you can do nothing about, which is most everything. Let it go and stop trying to control anything. You’ll destroy the spontaneity and the miracles that come with.

Jimmie Johnson, three time NASCAR Sprint Cup Champion looking for his fourth Championship win, had this to say after his Dover 2009 win:

“You know, I see guys get so worried about what other people think, what other people say and spend a lot of time in those areas. That’s not what works for me. It’s Time For You to Ignore, Ignore, Ignore

To be free to focus on what you want is to not concern yourself with not only the opinions of others but also what others are doing in the world. To not concern yourself you would have to be totally aware of who you are and what you want. It is time to focus on who you are, what you want and how to get it. To know who you are and what you want you would have to make choices about your life. To make these choices you would have to not concern yourself with the opinion of others nor what others are doing. You would then be fearless. Being fearless is to be truly free.

The Freedom to Focus

Focus on your own greatness, radiance and joy and you will then be able to acknowledge and recognize it in others. You will then attract brilliant, wonderful, happy people and situations to you. Focus is an easy way to attract success.

Small business owners, entrepreneurs and independent professionals can waste loads of time on insignificant tasks.

Try one or more of the following strategies that will help you focus on what you really want:

1. Give up answering your telephone. Hire a service or only answer your phone at specific times. Leave a voice mail message that says: ‘I will return all telephone calls between the hours of 11 a.m. and noon, and 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. during weekdays.

• Answer your email in the afternoon only. Use the morning time for high-level tasks. If any message requires an immediate response, wait until the next day to attend to it.

2. Review your clients and friends and eliminate those who do not support you.

• Eliminate whatever it is in your business and personal life that you do not want to finish. Either delete it from your task list or hire it out.
• Write down what you want done.
• Choose what does not inspire you and stop doing it.

If it is not the highest and best use of your time, forget about it.

4. Create a team that will support your success.

• Hire a Virtual Assistant for all your needs. Hire more than one if needed, as they each have their specialty.
• Have someone in your life that will edit your writing.

Are you still living in the past, the past of mistakes, sadness and if- onlys? Is negative thinking holding you back from a joyful and abundant future? To look at the past, and say what if I did that instead is not only a waste of time, it is a waste of energy. You cannot bring new energy or life into the present if you are still focused on the past. A positive and a negative will cancel each other out. First, you need to look at the past issue, and name it.

Let’s use Apathy as an example. Apathy is defined as a lack of interest, lethargy or laziness. Some of you may be affected by this at one time or another; however, it should not overtake your life. Decide that Apathy is no longer useful to keep, reclaim your power (power that keeps this Apathy alive) and the energy you devoted to Apathy; begin to realize that once you start reclaiming your power, you can devote new energy to what you really want.

 1.   Make a commitment to transform your life into what you want it to be. The commitment comes first. Without commitment, you have nothing.

 The Power of Commitment! – “Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back, always ineffectiveness. Concerning all acts of initiative ( and creation), there is one elementary truth the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then providence moves too. All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred. A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one’s favour all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance, which no man could have dreamed would have come his way.

Whatever you can do or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it. Begin it now”.- J. W. von Goethe

2. Stop doing what no longer works. Monitor your daily activities. If something does not make you happy, or give you joy, eliminate it from your life. This action requires due diligence of each and every moment of your life. Always ask the question, “Is this what I really want to do?” If not, figure out a method to either transform or remove it from your life. Take notes throughout the day to determine what it is that is preventing you from being happy and successful.

 3. Pay attention to your thoughts. Most times people who are in struggle think in a negative way, i.e., they become disappointed in what is not going their way, as opposed to saying, Hmmm, maybe I can learn something from this. Monitor these thoughts until you get a handle on your personal progress.

 4. Stop judging anything. Once you judge anything as good or bad, you own it. You get to carry your judgments with you all the time. These judgments become a burden; you are left without the energy to go for what you want. Just watch how the world is. Choose to participate or not, however, the best thing to do is be detached from what is going on ‘out there’. It takes practice, so start practicing.

 5. Stop blaming others for anything. Live your own life in the way that works for you. If you choose to compromise your life, to give up your ideals for someone or something else, you will then start blaming the other person or thing and be left with little or no energy to take care of yourself. What happens now or what happened in the past is a result of choice, either conscious or unconscious. Be responsible for the choices you make; no one can choose for you. If you choose to do something or be around certain people, and these situations are not supportive of the life you want to live, then know going in, that this is a choice, if only for a short period of time.

 6. Change your language. Stop arguing with people about useless things. If someone instigates an argument with you, think a little first, and then start by saying “Hmmm, interesting.” In the meantime, decide if this argument is worth the energy of it staying in your head and preventing you from moving forward towards a more positive life. Use your words carefully. Be positive at all times in your language. Always think before you speak. You are in charge at all times.

 7. Walk away. If you get angry, depressed or combative, move. You do not have to engage in every conversation out there. Go for a walk to clear your head; start noticing the world around you, without judgment. Look at the sun, the stars, the water, and the trees. Be grateful for what is good in your life.

8. Be here now. Pay attention to what is occurring right now in your life. This very second, your life is all about options, so choose wisely. Deal with what is in front of you. Stay in the ‘Now ‘as much as you can. Your stress levels will lower.

 9. Spend time with conscious, positive thinking people. Anyone who discourages you is toxic to your new way of thinking. You do not have to eliminate them from your life; however, place them on the Outer Circle of your imaginary dartboard. Keep the more positive, forward thinking, non-stress inducing people in the center of your dartboard, your Inner Circle.

  10. Like attracts like. If you think negative thoughts, you will breed negative thoughts. If you think powerful, positive conscious thoughts, you will breed these same types of thoughts. Pay attention to the most fleeting of thoughts, as well as how you express them. What do you truly want in your life? Think these thoughts. Fun, joy, peace, abundance are all there for your asking.

 11. Be patient with yourself. Choosing to live your life in a new way requires patience. If your life suddenly became pure and perfect, you might not be able to handle it. Where’s the fun in that? This new journey must be enjoyed. So be patient with yourself as your days unfold with new adventure, new possibilities, all in a mindful way. In order not to forget anything, consider writing about it in a journal of your choosing.

 12. Be Grateful – Be grateful that you made a commitment and are sticking to it. Be grateful that you had the energy to reclaim your power from unnecessary negative emotions. Be grateful that you are alive and willing to continue to learn. Be grateful for yourself, and the fact that you are an important piece of the bigger puzzle called life.

 You are now on your way to a new and different way of being with yourself and with others. You are moving forward towards personal success and eliminating any negative beliefs that may have held you back. You are devoting less and less time with toxic people and situations. You are now bringing new energy to your life and the lives around you. You are on your way to personal success in a most conscious way.

 Be Healthy – Stop Panicking

Many people are overreacting to the headlines. If you are a 

consistent reader of this newsletter, you know my position.

STOP reading the headlines. 

What do theses headlines say?

- The US President is doing this and that.

- The economy is falling/rising.

- Stocks are falling/rising.

- Real estate is bursting its bubble, or-

- There is no real estate bubble.

- Gas prices are too high.

- Gas prices are going higher.

- Other countries are in peril.

- Heads of nations are confused.

and the beat goes on.

What can you do about it instead of making yourself sick?

Remember that panic is just another word for fear.

It means you have become the ‘sheeple’, not a 

distinctive thinker.

Take care of your! business; be compassionate 

with yourself and your clients.

Check to see if your business is healthy. If not, handle it.

Go back to basics. What is the most important aspect of your

business? Make that aspect stronger and healthier.

Provide more benefits and value to your customers and

clients.

Take care of yourself each and every day. Stop reading the

headlines because you cannot do a darn thing about them.

You can only do something about you and your business.

So give up being reactive and believing what you read. 

If you are reactive, the turkeys have got you where they 

want you – with your eyes on them, not you and your success.

Do not believe everything you read.

Bringing your emotional baggage into the work place is inappropriate for all the reasons you may imagine. Yet employees, managers and business owners do it all the time.

The question is, how do you handle it? How do you look at your manager and think, “No one is going to tell me what to do!” What if a client, peer or prospect gets you on a Bad Day?

How do you take the personal out of the workplace?
It requires discrimination and distinction. If you are having communication problems at work, look at how you view your manager, boss or employee. Does he or she represent a parent, mate or partner? Are your frustrations about what is and is not working in your life manifested on the job? Learn to leave your troubles at the door. Decide that what you do in the workplace is your contribution – to yourself, your peers and the community. This is your opportunity to commit to what you are best at doing and get paid for it.

Examine your values. Values are how you live your life, about what is important to you. Choose values that help make you what you truly are. Your personal values and professional values can be the same.

Warning! Many businesses like to say they are like a family. Be cautious if you are enticed by this. Employees, managers and business owners may manifest characteristics found in your personal family.

Why is this important?
What can happen is, you may take on the role that you do in your own family. If you are passive at home and come to work as a manager, what does that look like? Confusing at best. When a passive person has to function in a different role on the job, they may revert and act like the aggressive parent. Potential can best be realized under a thoughtful and caring leader. Attempt to facilitate, to make it easy for everyone to achieve his or her best.

As a manager, supervisor or business owner, you have to know what your values are; what the values of your company are, as well as the values of the people you manage. The basic rules of respect and acceptance apply. The Golden Rule is: “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you”, not: “Do it to them before they do it to you”.

People who bring emotional baggage into the workplace can be temperamental, grasping and neglectful. Even more frustrating is that they act out all their pent-up, misplaced emotions on the job without consideration for others. Employees and co-workers react to this, work efforts and results go by the wayside, and profit and productivity go down.

Leave your unexpressed feelings at the door. Take a break if you become frustrated. Know that you are at work to provide results.

Heal yourself first, determine your values, then you will be a better employee, manager or business owner.
